To have a beautiful lawn, you will need to use fertilizers. We recommend 4 fertilizations per season - at the beginning of the season, when vegetation starts (around April), then two fertilizations in summer, and the last one in autumn (around October). There are three main elements essential for a lawn - nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). Nitrogen is needed for lawn growth and greenness. Phosphorus - for the root system. Potassium - for resistance. You will find the symbols for these three elements on fertilizer packages. And here we recommend using a bit of mathematics. It is scientifically proven that 1 ar (100 square meters) of lawn needs about 2 kg of nitrogen, 0.5-0.7 kg of phosphorus, and about 1 kg of potassium throughout the entire season. This is the "magical" nutrient ratio for a lawn: 4-1-2. This calculated amount is for all 4 fertilizations. It is also important that the amount of nitrogen per fertilization does not exceed 0.6 kg.

Considering all this, we have created a calculator for you, which, by entering the lawn area, will show how many pure elements your specific lawn needs, distributed among our recommended 4 fertilizations per season. It is important to understand that this is not about the weight of the fertilizer package, but the need for pure elements. For example, a 20 kg NPK 17-11-12 fertilizer package will contain 3.4 kg of pure nitrogen (N-17%), 2.2 kg of pure phosphorus (P-11%), and 2.4 kg of pure potassium (K-12%). The total amount of pure substances in the package is only 8 kg (40%). Everything else is something different. But that's not what we're talking about now.

As the season changes, the fertilizers usually change too - in spring we use more nitrogen, but also quite a bit of phosphorus and potassium. In summer - more nitrogen, but little phosphorus with potassium. Towards autumn - we reduce the amount of nitrogen, increase potassium, and increase the plant's resistance to winter. To make it easy for consumers, manufacturers use the terms "spring," "summer," and "autumn" fertilizers. You can rely on them, and you probably won't go wrong. The amount of fertilizer is very important. If there is a lack of fertilizer, the lawn will not look healthy and beautiful. On the other hand, an excess of fertilizer harms the soil, which will eventually make the lawn poorer. In other words, pastries today - overweight in the future :) The variety of fertilizers is huge. Some of them contain only the pure main elements discussed above, while others contain additional amounts of other elements (e.g., sulfur, manganese, etc.). Some fertilizers may also contain natural organic matter beneficial to your soil. Some fertilizers are fast-acting, while others can be "long-lasting," dissolving more slowly and having a longer effect. This is your choice, it is subtle and individual for everyone.

Fertilizers can be spread (main plant nutrition, through the roots) or sprayed (additional nutrition). Our recommendation is to combine these two methods. This way, the fertilized lawn will be the most beautiful.
